Why Should You Junk Journal??
I'll tell ya why I started. I knew that journaling was and is a great tool to start or end the day. Getting all your thoughts out on paper and/or just brain dumping does so much for mental and emotional clarity.
But, sometimes for me I need less writing, less thought and more visual. I need another option to quiet my brain and/or push myself to be creative, but without the stress or active brain work. That's where junk journaling came in for me. It has become a place, time and tool that brings it all together for me. I make it what I want and need it to be. No rules. Sometimes I'll write more and sometimes not all, sometimes I'm adding my "junk" from the week and sometimes I'm just picking out a random sticker, washi tape, or torn page from a magazine and taking the theme from there.
Why should you junk journal? To give time to yourself to create, to unwind, to be still, to be alone, to incorporate a new creative practice for yourself or with your family/friends, to have an excuse to get together or hideaway, to release the day and just let what happens happen.
It can serve as a creative, personalized diary, memory keeper, or art journal. You can be traditional with the practice and create your own journal book or purchase a journal. The point is it's a space for you without rules, obligations, needs or boundaries. Use it to collect and record memories, thoughts, ideas, dreams, inspirations, day-to-day stuff, use it every day, once a week or whenever you need to just get creative.
