We're blending watercolor + oil pastel for this next beginner level class.
I've chosen the May month flower Lily of the Valley as our subject. This flower blooms in thick paths along my backyard and the fragrant blooms are one of my favorites. It symbolizes sweetness, humility and hope.
I have been wanting to introduce oil pastels into a beginner level class and what better way than to pair this medium with watercolor. The soft, rich, blendable oil pastels bring texture and vibrancy to the soft, delicate, and transparent fluidity of watercolor.
This class is perfect for any skill level! We will review the basics of watercolor and oil pastels, practice using both mediums and then I'll take you step-by-step to paint your own Lily of the Valley composition. You will have the option to use an outline drawing printed on mixed media paper (see image) or sketch and paint your own. We'll practice first and then I'll guide you through your final composition making it approachable and fun!
